Start Your Footwear Product Development
Footwear projects begin with different levels of technical input. HEVA reviews the available design basis, identifies specification gaps and defines the development work required before sampling.
Construction drawings, BOM, material specifications, last and size data, outsole files, color standards and branding details are reviewed for completeness and manufacturability.
Dimensions, construction, component relationships, material references and fit are reviewed to define the approved development or modification scope.
Available views, proportions, pattern lines, material zones and branding details are translated into an initial development brief. Unclear structure, fit and tooling requirements are proposed and validated during development.
Intended use, target cost, product silhouette, functional requirements, material direction and tooling implications are consolidated into a defined development brief.
Colorways, materials, upper details, straps, components, logos, labels and packaging are reviewed against existing tooling and construction limits to define the available private label scope.
TOOLING & DEVELOPMENT OPTIONS
Shoe Tooling & Mold Development
HEVA reviews the shoe tooling required for the approved footwear construction and size range.
Existing Tooling Adaptation
Available Styles
Existing outsole and molded-footwear options for your collection.
Size & Material Compatibility
Available sizes and material options supported by the selected tooling.
Customization Scope
Branding and detail changes possible within the existing mold structure.
Last & Upper Compatibility
Selected outsoles reviewed against the intended last and upper construction.
New Mold Development
Custom Mold Designs
New outsole profiles, tread patterns and molded shoe shapes.
Size-Range Tooling
Defined mold development scope for the required footwear sizes.
Molded Details
Logo placement, surface textures and connection details built into the mold design.
Pre-Tooling Approval
Final 3D geometry and tooling specifications confirmed before mold making.
CONFIDENTIALITY & OWNERSHIP
Design Confidentiality & Ownership
Before development begins, we clarify confidentiality, design ownership, tooling arrangements and any exclusivity requirements, with the agreed terms recorded for your project.
NDA Arrangements
If your project requires a non-disclosure agreement, submit it for review before sharing sensitive files. The agreed scope identifies the information protected, its permitted use and the parties covered, including relevant production partners.
Design File Confidentiality
Your confidential drawings, tech packs, 3D files and brand artwork are used only within the agreed project scope. Access, external sharing and the use of project images in marketing follow the confidentiality and approval requirements agreed with you.
Final Design Ownership
Your existing designs and brand assets are identified separately from new development work. Ownership of the final design, permitted usage rights and the editable files included in delivery are agreed in writing.
Mold Payment & Ownership
The tooling quotation identifies the molds and sizes covered, payment stages and ownership terms. Any conditions for ownership transfer, storage, maintenance or release of the molds are clarified before tooling work begins.
Dedicated & Existing Molds
Access to existing molds is distinguished from dedicated tooling developed for your project. Any exclusive-use arrangement specifies the molds, components and sizes covered, together with restrictions on use for other projects.
Product Exclusivity
If you require product exclusivity, we review the styles, territories, sales channels, duration and any order commitments involved. Product exclusivity is negotiated separately from design ownership and mold ownership, with its scope defined in the project agreement.
Brand Program Experience
Selected brand programs HEVA has supported.
HEVA has supported these brand programs from sampling to production follow-up and QC.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
OEM & ODM Shoe Manufacturing FAQ
Combine general cooperation questions with questions specific to the current footwear category.
What is the difference between OEM and ODM shoes?+
OEM shoe development starts from your design and specifications, with HEVA supporting the technical development needed to turn them into physical samples. ODM development starts from a product brief or an existing design that can be developed or adapted for your brand.
The main difference is who provides and develops the initial design—not whether the project includes branding or requires new molds. The development scope is defined around the design work already completed and the support you need.
What should be included in a shoe Tech Pack?+
A shoe tech pack should describe the intended product clearly enough for development and quotation. Useful information includes design views, construction details, a bill of materials (BOM), material specifications, color references, size and fit requirements, sole details, and logo placement. Include dimensions and artwork for branding or packaging where available.
You do not need every detail finalized before contacting us. Share the version you have, and we can identify missing specifications and the decisions that need to be resolved before sampling.
Does every custom shoe project require new tooling?+
No. Existing tooling may support a project when its shape, available sizes and material compatibility match the intended design. Depending on the construction, changes to colors, branding or upper details may be possible without developing a completely new set of molds.
New shoe tooling may be needed when the proposed sole profile, molded shoe shape, structural details or size range cannot be achieved with the available molds. We review these requirements before defining the tooling scope.
How much does a custom shoe mold cost?+
There is no single mold price that applies to every footwear project. Shoe mold cost depends on the component being developed, its geometry and construction, the molding process, and the number of sizes and molds required. Developing one sample size and a complete production size range are different tooling scopes.
For a meaningful quotation, share your design or reference sample, intended material and required sizes. The quotation should specify which molds and sizes are included, along with any separately charged development or modification work.
Can you develop footwear from a photo or sample?+
Yes. As a custom shoe manufacturer, HEVA can use photos, sketches or physical samples as a starting point for development.
Photos help communicate appearance, proportions and design details, while physical samples provide additional references for dimensions, construction and fit. Details that cannot be established from the reference—such as internal components or exact material specifications—need to be defined during development. The resulting sample is then reviewed against the agreed specifications, rather than assuming that a visual reference contains all the information needed for production.
Who owns the final design and tooling?+
Design ownership, development-file delivery and tooling ownership are separate matters addressed in the project agreement. Your existing designs and brand assets are distinguished from new work created during development, with ownership and permitted use specified for each.
For tooling, the agreement identifies whether the project uses existing molds or newly commissioned molds, together with the relevant payment, ownership and release terms. Any exclusive-use or product-exclusivity arrangement is defined separately, including its scope and duration.
